If I download pdf files using Foxfire from a sensitive site can they be intercepted? It is my understanding that Adobe Reader does not offer this protection.

You would be best to use a https site for downloads.

If it is for instance a bank statement it would be from a https site and that increases security.

If it is sensitive terrorist plans yes they are detectable.
