How do I put ONLY 9 tabs, NOT 15, on the New Tab Page? (First off...please don't read this as being written by an angry person. I am simply frustrated with the browser I have loved for years. Hopefully SOMEONE can help me) For a very long time, I have had my Firefox (version 33.0.2 - although I don't recall getting any "update" notices) set so that whenever I clicked the New Tab "+" symbol to create a new tab (which has the "New Tab Page" on it), my NINE thumbnails would be shown for my SELECTED, and PINNED sites. I LOVED IT! Yesterday I opened Firefox and NOW when I click the "+" to open the New Tab Page...FIFTEEN thumbnails appear, 5wide x 3down, (and to be honest I PROBably would have gotten used to 15! ha). Here's the BIG ISSUE: NONE of the thumbnails are "pinnable". They ALL have the yellow "unpinned" icon in the top-left, and clicking does nothing to remedy this of course. Other than THAT, everything else behaves normally. (ie moving thumbnails, deleting them, swapping them....I just can't PIN them!) ULTIMATELY I would prefer my 9-pinnable thumbnails back on the New Tab Page. I have gone through EVERY option Sideways, upside-down and backwards, and I just get more frustrated. Can ANYBODY help me?

Hello,

If you can actually see all of your tiles, you can change your configuration page settings:

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. Search for browser.newtabpage.columns and change it to 3, or however many columns you like
    • Note: browser.newtabpage.rows allows you to change to how many rows you want as well

Alternatively, you can set a fixed number of tiles with the following extension:
