You can set your New Tab page to show your most visited sites, suggestions from Mozilla, or nothing at all. To access these controls, click on the cogwheel icon in the top right hand corner of the new tab. Learn more about these controls here.
Show your top sites and suggested sites
Select Show suggested and your top sites to see sites from your browsing history, in addition to suggested sites from interest categories that Firefox finds in your browsing history. (See New Tab page in Firefox for more information).
Show your top sites only
If you do not wish to see suggested sites from Mozilla and partners, select Show your top sites and Firefox will show only sites it finds in your most frequent and recent browsing history.
Show a blank New Tab
To remove all sites from the New Tab page, select Show blank page.
Show top sites and suggested sites
When both Show your top sites and Include suggested sites are checked, you will see sites from your browsing history, in addition to suggested sites from interest categories that Firefox finds in your browsing history. Suggested sites may be content from Mozilla, or it may be promoted content from partners (including adverts, in which case it will clearly be marked as Sponsored). Show only your top sites
If you do not wish to see suggested sites from Mozilla and partners, uncheck Include suggested sites and Firefox will show only sites it finds in your most frequent and recent browsing history.
Show a blank New Tab
To remove all sites from the New Tab page, select
.Disable New Tab controls
To hide everything on the New Tab page, including the New Tab controls, follow these steps:
- Type about:config in the address bar and press EnterReturn.
A warning page may appear. Click to go to the about:config page. - Type browser.newtab.url in the search box.
- Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and change the url from about:newtab to about:blank. Alternately, you can change it to about:home or your preferred home page by typing in its url.
- Click and close the about:config tab.
