How do I transfer Bookmarks from one PC to another without overwriting the bookmarks already in the P.C. to be transfered to (i.e. add them to the existing)?

more options

I would like to transfer my bookmarks from from a PC I'm getting rid of to a 2nd PC. The 2nd PC already has many bookmarks and I don't want to loose them. It looks pretty clear that if I "backup" the ones on the old PC and "restore" them on the 2nd PC that it will overwrite the bookmarks on the 2nd PC. What I want to do is MERGE them on the 2nd PC. Does anyone know a way?

You need to use the export/import method instead of the backup/restore method. Import is additive -- it should create an Imported Bookmarks folder -- and shouldn't replace existing bookmarks.

(1) Export on both systems: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks

(2) Import on the new system: Import Bookmarks from an HTML file

Hopefully that works!

I also have a tool to create an HTML export from a .jsonlz4 backup file if you need a "point in time" export file from an older backup: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/bookbackreader.html
