Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Firefox latest version, 96.0.3 in this case. The browser will not recognize that I am clicking on boxes. For example, if I go to help>about then I can't click on any of the links or close the window. I have to use task manager to end Firefox. Another example, I received a legitimate email with a link to download a file, I click on the link in the email and file download dialog box opens but again, I can't click on anything.

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
