Firefox does not do email. When you use a mailto link the system will bring up your chosen email application. What was Outlook Express would now probably be "Windows Live Mail". click on the following link (or paste it into the location bar of Firefox) --> someone@example.com

it should bring up your email application with the "to address" filled in and your own email address should appear there as well. See attachment for what I get from Windows Live Mail. This has nothing to do with Firefox so far.

@rogers.com in your email address indicates that your email is processed with a Rogers account. Rogers being your ISP (internet service provider).

Under Tools > Options > Applications for mailto: you should not have to make any changes and what you have or had as the default should work for you -- see the second attachment.
