I get this message: Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_MAC_READ

or other similar messages. This is a relatively new problem.

This happens when I open multiple web pages all at the same time (open all bookmarks withing a folder). Some open, some get the message. Seems kind of random as to which is which.

Re-reading the rejected page always clears up the problem. Opening any individually is never a problem.

These are mostly major news sites - NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Wash. Post,, etc.... About a dozen.

I presume this is some type of timing issue, based on a number of pages all being opened at the same time. Is there a timer I can loosen up a bit?? thx,

MH

Are you using a proxy or VPN ?

You can check the connection settings.

  • Settings -> General -> Network: Connection -> Settings

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":

Are you using a proxy or VPN ?\ NOPE - just plain vanilla.

Just to respond to your suggestions - ALL of the web pages will load, just not the first time. And this happens when I load a bunch of pages at once, leading me to think there is a timing window that is being exceeded - but that's just a guess.

thx for help....
