For a while now, Firefox has been opening with the sidebar appearing every time. I never wanted this and don't know what causes it to open every time I open Firefox browser now.

What setting is there to stop the sidebar automatically displaying/opening upon Firefox startup?

Hello, Since yesterday, the Firefox web browser crashes systematically. This has happened well over a dozen times. I've tried multiple step-by-step solutions: deactivating extensions, troubleshooting mode, repairing firefox, uninstalling and installing Firefox, trying several versions of Firefox (Quantum, ESR, Nightly), downgrading to an earlier version, uninstalling and completely cleaning Mozilla folders on AppData, deactivating graphics/hardware acceleration...

At one point, Firefox was crashing after ten seconds of watching a video on Youtube or another platform. After reinstallation, video playback no longer causes the browser to crash, but closing a tab does.

I am currently using Mozilla ESR 115.12.0. After reinstalling, I lost all the reports I sent. Nevertheless, I was able to reproduce the crash to give you the ID: [https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/repor.../a2d0f5de-d03f-450b-88f8-a8fdc0240705] Another crash report : [https://crash-stats.mozilla.org/repor.../71c602f6-c682-4158-9880-24d6a0240705]

According to the crash table, the reason for the crash is as follows: EXCEPTION_STACK_BUFFER_OVERRUN / FAST_FAIL_GUARD_ICALL_CHECK_FAILURE This reason appears on all crashes.

Thank you.

Greetings:

On my webpage, I need to use canvas to draw two other pictures decoded by webassembly. I found that the two screens will cross each other under Firefox, but not under Google Chrome. Under Firefox, when two tabs are opened, the images will affect each other. It seems that after drawing through the timer, the browsers share a webgl context.

After testing we found: 1. The versions of Firefox are all up to date. In this case, some computers will have images affecting each other, while others will not (computers with graphics cards of Intel HD Graphics 630 will display normally, while others will not). 2. On the computer where the page displays an error, on the same computer, we update the graphics card driver version of the device manager, and then refresh the page. The pages will no longer affect each other. But after closing all Firefox browsers and opening them again, the images interacted with each other again.

The first picture is our real usage scenario, and the second picture is the minimum reproduction example.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Thank you.

After Windows update - issue with Bookmark-Tags

Hi! I was prompted earlier today to update Windows 10 on my laptop, and now adding tags to Bookmarks isn't working correctly.

If I try to add tags to a bookmark, normally - I start typing the tag and if I already have tags starting with those letters a list would usually show of my existing tags that start with those letters - and I can choose which tag I want to use.

Since the update, what I get is a list of what tags are already on the tag-line for my bookmark! This is terrible.

I have a huge library of Bookmarks - most of which are extremely well-tagged.

When I start typing a tag name, I need the interface to act like it did previously - and show me what tags I have that start with those same letters.

My Firefox browser is on auto-update so it's up-to-date.

I hope this gets fixed very shortly because I really hate it! And I'm constantly adding new bookmarks and editing my old ones - so this is such an annoyance.

I hope my description is good enough because I can't get a screen-shot (as soon as I try to activate the screen-shot thing, clicking to do that makes my Edit Bookmark window disappear).

I do hope this gets sorted out soon! BTW, I'm usually very happy with the Bookmarks system :) ~Liz

‘If I leave FF on for too long, I get a message that there is no internet connection when there is. I have to shut FF and when I try to restart I get a message that FF is already running and I must shut it before ‘Firefox’ will restart. If I go to Task manager, I see about 8 instances of FF running. Help, please.

Editing a local PDF on Windows, save opens a file explorer dialog instead of just saving the original

When editing a local PDF on Windows, the save button and Ctrl+S both open the Windows file explorer save dialog instead of just saving over the original file. The Windows file explorer save dialog would be an acceptable extra step, except that the location sometimes defaults to the last place you saved a PDF. So if you opened a new PDF in a new directory and want to save over the original, you have to navigate to the new PDF's directory from the last directory (which can be a hassle if the new directory is many folders deep).

So occasionally when I'm paying a hair less attention I save edits to a PDF in a random folder and my original PDF stays un-edited and I have to hunt down the edited PDF in said random folder and move it to its correct spot manually, which is annoying.

Solutions I'm looking for to smooth out the confusion:

A) Ctrl+S or whatever just overwrites the original file with no dialog. (and down the line, a save-as button mayhaps)

B) Always have the Windows file explorer save dialog open at the PDF's directory location.

The PDF editing is already fantastic, this would make it functionally perfect (for me)!

Importing data after system reset - passwords pulled through but bookmarks didn't

Hello,

I was having a problem recently with blue screens of death so I had to factory reset my PC - but not before backing up my personal files to an external hard drive.

Upon re-downloading Firefox, my saved passwords have pulled through with my profile (thankfully) but my bookmarks have not.

Am I missing something or should they have pulled through too?

I've tried the obvious like "Manage Bookmarks -> Import & Backup" and also looking for the file manually in AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\q6xxdvnd.default-release\bookmarkbackups

If anyone is able to help, it would be much appreciated

cheers

Hi,

There was some kind of Firefox upgrade today that has just thrown everything into chaos. I have tried to recreate my tabs--they don't show up in my history--and have done okay with that. My google scholar extension button, though enabled, doesn't show up. I don't know wtf happened but it is all a literal headache.

I'm the last person I know who still uses Firefox--this may be the last straw.

I have browser.messaging-system.whatsNewPanel.enabled set to "false". And yet when I update firefox, there's still a new tab opening telling me useless information.

I don't want firefox to ever automatically open a new tab ever, for anything, ever. I don't care what's new, I don't care what changed, I just don't care. I want to permanently and completely disable firefox from opening a new tab to tell me literally anything.

Please don't try to argue or convince me otherwise. It's such weird and rude behavior. Just please, how do I disable this feature that is annoying to me?

Firefox should never be able to open a new tab on its own. Any tab openings should be done by user action.
