I lost access to my two-factor authentication app and therefore could not get into my account. I have created a new account using a different email address but I would like to use the email address (which I still have access to) associated with that account. As long as the old account exists I cannot associate that email with my new account. I cannot find any way to contact Mozilla to ask them to delete the old account (and free up that email address). Will it just get deleted eventually if I don't log into it anymore? Is there someone I can contact to close that old account? Thanks

That is not possible. Note that there are recovery codes to access the Firefox Account and a recovery key to access your Sync data in cases like this.

Hello argent.wolfwing,

If you really want to delete that account; please see :

^: that won't work if you have set 2FA and not not have access to the Authenticator app or recovery keys because you won't be able to access the Firefox Account Settings page.

^: In that case the only option will indeed be to create a new account with a different email address ..... :(

The OP already did create a new account and wants to delete the older account.

Hi argent.wolfwing.

Did you ever get a resolution to this problem? I'm in the same boat and locked out of an account with no way to delete it and start again.

I have a similar problem. I changed my email address and didn't realise at the time that you could add a secondary email to Firefox and then delete the original one. So I created a new account with the new email address and password, expecting to go back and delete the original account. However, when I go to accounts, only the original account appears with the old address. I tried adding my new email to the original account but it says it already exists and cannot be added. I could just delete the original account. If I do that, would the new account appear? I can't find the new account anywhere at present to edit it, but keep getting two sets of emails into my inbox, one from both accounts, which is the most annoying thing.

Hi aylmerc

Did you try to login to the new account and follow the steps to remove this account to free up that email address ?

Just following up. I have now found a way to log into my new account by clicking on "email preferences" below the sign in box on my original Firefox account. However, in the new account there is no way of editing anything like passwords or emails, apart from from email preferences for mail outs. I would prefer to delete this new account but there is no option given to delete it, like there is for the original account. It's all very frustrating. Worst of all, there is no way of contacting support directly.

Thank you cor-el. I tried again logging into my new account and this time the edit details box came up (never appeared before...just stuff on contact preferences) and I was able to delete the new account. I then added my new email as a second email address on the original account and then converted it to the primary email address. What a palaver! Thanks so much for your help and support.
