It has happened off and on for the last few weeks but more often than not when I try to send mail from my Outlook Web App the page is blank and my signature is missing. It's only happening on my home computer which is running Windows 8.1 and the latest version of Firefox. Everything sends properly in Chrome and at work using Windows 10. Last week a button came up saying that the message would be displayed and on that email the previous message I was responding to was there but it hasn't come up since. I checked previous responses and I don't have any weird extensions or add on enabled. All I have is whatever the safe browser extension Firefox has put in place and the McAfee web advisor. If there's something that isn't working between the two platforms that would be good to know but I wasn't trying to move off Firefox just to keep sending work email but it's getting rather annoying.

Firefox should still work with Outlook Web App, but there may be issues with older versions of Exchange Server (before Exchange 2013).

Could you describe the sequence of events: are you calling up a new compose window (new message, reply, forward), and it's unexpectedly blank, or you can compose fine but after you send, you check the message and it went out blank?

In case you haven't already, you might try "the usual":

If the site is generally known to work in Firefox, these are general suggestions to try when it stops working:

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes. If you do not see the number going down on the page, you can reload it using Ctrl+r to check progress.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Testing in Firefox's Safe Mode: In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement?

It's when I'm either composing a new message or replying to a message. Either way nothing is there most of the time but only in Firefox not Chrome. I have to say most of the time because it worked randomly when I was at a conference but not consistently. I was starting to think it was my wifi but that seems unlikely since Chrome is fine on the same wifi. I will clear cache and see what happens but checking the plugins and like there were no options that would be slowing things down unless the new safe browsing plugin/extension from Firefox is the issue.

There's some add on or extension causing issues. In safe mode it's working fine. I refreshed Firefox and it was good. Thanks for trying to help.
