On the email "Write" screen, is there a way to change the order of the options under "File"? "Save" and "Save As" are dangerously close to "Send Now." I want to avoid sending inadvertently. Why did TB developers put these items so close to each other?

Menu Wizard was able to rearrange menus, but it's not compatible with TB 68. Menu Filter can remove menu commands, but I think the best option is to show the Composition Toolbar in the Write window and arrange the Send and Save buttons so they're widely separated. The buttons can be moved by drag and drop when the View/Toolbars/Customize... window is open. Press Alt if the Menu Bar with View is hidden.

Thank you for your response. However, I don't understand your instructions at all. Please forgive my lack of knowledge. 1. How do I "show the the Composition Toolbar in the Write window"? 2. Once I re-arrange the Send and Save buttons, how do I get the "View/Toolbars/Customize" window open without losing the content in the Write window? 3. When would "Menu Bar with View" be hidden? How would I know that? Thank you.

If you don't see File, Edit, View etc. at the top of the Write window, press Alt to show it, then enable the Menu Bar and Composition Toolbar under View/Toolbars. Next, View/Toolbars/Customize..., and while the Customize window is open, drag the buttons on the Composition toolbar into the desired positions, then click OK.

Hi sfhowes,

It appears I am one, simple, tantalizing step away from solving my problem. But I'm still not there.

Thank you so much for your second set of instructions which clarified the first set.

I followed the second set of instructions to a T. But a glitch occurs on the very last step which says "while the Customize window is open, drag the buttons on the Composition toolbar into the desired positions, then click OK." When I drag the buttons, they look at first as though they're dragging, but they don't actually move into the position I'm dragging them to.

I am baffled. What am I doing wrong? To get them to drag properly, do I have to drag something from the Customize window to the buttons I'm trying to drag? Help!

When the Customize window is open, you can drag buttons to the toolbar, or drag buttons from the toolbar to the Customize window. Also, while the window is open, drag the buttons already on the toolbar to different positions. A black vertical line appears on the toolbar to indicate where the button will appear when it is 'dropped' into position. See the attached picture where the Delete button is being moved to the left of the Address Book button.

Dear Mr. Howes,

Thank you. Sorry to bother you again.

I've tried your third set of instructions many, many, many times but it does not allow me to move the positions of Save and Save As so I can get them away from Send. It seems as though your instructions apply to moving items on horizontal toolbars. Save and Save As are vertical subsets under File. I assure you I am trying very hard, but I'm missing something in your instructions.

The illustration did not help me.

Can you suggest any other source for me to review to solve this problem if it is indeed solvable?

Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Mary

Mr. Howes,

Are you sure that the vertical buttons under File in the Write window can in fact be re-ordered?

Why did the TB developers position Save and Save As so close to Send Now when this makes it too easy to mistakenly hit Send Now instead of Save or Save As. I asked you this before but you didn't answer this.

When I try your instructions, I am unable to use Cut, Copy, or Paste from the Customize window to move the order of Save, Save As, and Send Now. Why?

Thanks.

Save and Save As are combined in the same button, and you cannot separate them. But you can move the Save/Save As button so that is not next to the Send button - which was the original suggestion in my first reply. See the attached pictures.
