I would like the simplest/easiest method to move T'Bird from my old computer to my new computer.

Old has WXP-PRO, new W10.

My old computer will be DISCONNECTED when I connect my new computer. So they will not operate simultaneously.

I'm hoping there's some way to place old T'Bird somewhere (at Mozilla? in the "cloud"?) and then retrive it from that place when the new computer is hooked up. Thanks.

method 1: the new windows will also have a transfer wizard and give you option to import the settings. but honestly, i have never liked this transfer wizard. its only an option for you.

method 2: yes. all emails are store in a big file and not as separate files. so when you copy an email folder, all the email are inside it. when you install tbird on new system the locations of the email folders will be in the same place, as long as you also created an identical user account on the new windows.

method 3: its simple and you really dont need technical assistance. it simply entails re-creating the exact accounts in your new tbird. tbird will create the necessary folders which will be empty. once you sync them, all the emails stored on the webserver will be re-downloaded to the new folders and populate them. but be sure that when you create the new accounts on the new tbird, you ensure the option to leave messages on the server is selected. (i think by default it is)

good luck!

method1 - windows has a file and settings transfer wizard whereas it will back up your user profile and can then be installed on the new version of windows.

method2 - you can also copy the tbird email boxes and paste them into the new harddrive. then tell the new tbird installation where the folder are. the specifics can be found here:

https://www.google.com/search?q=tbird+profile&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

method3- another method is that if the emails are still stored on the email server on the web, then when you install tbird on the new windows and re-create the accounts, those emails on the webserver can be re-downloaded to win10.

thank you.

Method 1 - How will the new version of Windows "see" the old version of Windows so that new can transfer from the old?

Method 2 - Are T'bird email "boxes" the same as emails that I have saved? Or are currently in "inbox" or"drafts" or "sent", etc. ? In any case, how do I paste them into the new hard drive which is on a different computer? I read the link and maybe did not understand the various topics there but I didn't see how any of those applied in this case.

Method 3 - This one seems like the solution I was looking for. I will chat with T'bird to see what they recommend. Previous chats with T'Bird have not been successful so I came here first.

I have my old C drive installed in my new PC, along with the new one with a fresh install of Windows 10. My old PC was also Windows 10. The intent had been to clone my C drive to my new PC. However, the installer ran into a problem and simply installed a new copy of Windows, leaving me with the old C drive as well. I have installed Thunderbird on the new PC, using the same account, and the inbox loaded. Now I need to transfer my address book and all of my local folders from the old C drive to the new one (both installed on the new PC - old drive is now the G drive). I have not found any of the above instructions to be applicable. Would appreciate some help. Thanks.
