If I type in a website up in the top bar on my home page of either Firefox or Google and hit "enter" nothing happens. It won`t go with the arrow at the end of the bar, nor with my mouse clicks. If I search in the box in the center of the page for the site, choices come up and if I click on them then it goes to the site. If I click on one of my bookmarks, no problem. My "enter " key works with Internet Explorer in that top bar where you type a website address, but not with Firefox as my default browser. It just started a couple of days ago after I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox to fix a problem with an unwanted site. Any ideas???

What search engine is selected if you check that in "Options/Preferences > Search"?

Try to delete the search.json file and possible search-metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to reset the search engines to the default.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

Firefox will rebuild the search.json file from the default built-in search engines that come with Firefox and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.
