Firefox 38 on Mac OS 10.9.5 shows error when accessing hotels.com

Everytime I access hotels.com with Firefox, I get the following error screen. Sometimes right away, sometimes after doing some searching for hotels, and the asking to display on map. Hotels.com works fine with Safari on my mac.

Erro Screen:

Bad Request Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.

Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.

Cookie: <very long string of characters>

This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.

  • check the permissions on the about:permissions page and in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
