After update, Firefox starts every time with checking add-ons and showing help page. How do I stop this?

After Firefox updates to the latest version, it checks add-ons for compatibility and shows a "what's new" or "help" page. Since the last update, my firefox ALWAYS does this upon startup.

Please try deleting the updates.xml file in the Firefox installation folder.
