I've been using Thunderbird for a long time. I presently have version 115.4.3

I have always had to enter my pw to receive emails, and always have to enter it again to send emails. Why do I have to enter it twice?

Every other email client I have ever used only requires I enter it once.

I don't want to use Thunderbird to save my passwords.

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

because sending and receiving are two different things and on most mail servers use two different physical servers, potentially with two different passwords. So they are requested and stored separately.
