Firefox/Google was updated w/o my approval, what happened to my bookmarks?

When I loaded Firefox/Google I believe it was updated w/o my approval and now my bookmarks are gone. Then I was given an option to pay a third party to fix a problem that Firefox created. I want my previous version of Firefox back. Why can't I have a phone number to call??????

hello, please understand that like most vendors of free software mozilla does not provide support via telephone, so continue here in the forum where we will try to solve your issue.

as you have malicious addons present, please perform all these steps:

  1. reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
  2. afterwards go to firefox > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
  3. finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

Firefox allows you to view bookmarks in several different places. Can you check to see whether they are completely gone from all, or perhaps only one of them is glitchy?

  • Library dialog, either:
    • Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks
    • Ctrl+Shift+b
  • Bookmarks Sidebar, either:
    • Bookmarks > Bookmarks Sidebar
    • Ctrl+b
  • Bookmarks menu button (the button style has changed in Firefox 29, it's next to the star)
  • Bookmarks menu on the classic menu bar (tap Alt to display the bar if you do not normally show it)
