In hotmail none of the links (click on an email, check junk box, etc) works. I am running XP 32bit SP3, using Firefox 14.0.1. Today I upgraded Java to 1.8.0-ea which is the only thing I have changed and the Java sits says this is the recommended installation when they check it.

I have cleared all cache and cookies, I have created a new profile and tried that, none of these work. Hotmail works fine with IE. Any suggestions?

EDIT: I also checked the applications in options, my MAILTO is set to 'Outlook' which I do not use and windows live mail is not in the default list. I am not sure if this affects anything but I thought it may be useful.

Java 8 ea (early access) is still in beta and not an official release, so it is better to use the latest Java 7U5 or 6U33 release.

See Java Platform > Java SE 7U5 or Java 6U33 (Download JRE)

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Cache has been cleared, cookies, ALL COOKIES, deleted.

Safe Mode was began with add-ons disabled, no difference.
