Font spontaneously changes, keeps changing, on certain pages, eg. news.google.com

more options

A normal session in Firefox suddenly went awry. All web pages started displaying with the font spontaneously changing. The fonts kept changing, making it impossible to use.

On rebooting, the font of home page is too tiny to read, and I see no way of changing it. Please help or I will have to find another browser immediately.

被選擇的解決方法

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: View > Zoom > Reset (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

Try to toggle some Boolean gfx.font_rendering prefs on the about:config page to disable some features and maybe set gfx.direct2d.disabled -> true to disable Direct2D.

Filter: gfx

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

  • Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
  • Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
  • Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

Dear cor-el,

First, thanks SO much for replying! I never got as far as trying the about:config idea, although I noted it for future ref, because the View > Zoom > Reset command worked perfectly. Whew.
