If you really need to email someone then if their email address is displayed then you could simply copy and paste it into the 'To:' box on and email message. Or you could try hovering over the mailto link with your mouse, right click and click 'Copy email address' (it should be the second option down).

Also, do you know if you have a default email program (also known as an email client) set? It maybe that if you don't, then Firefox doesn't know what to do so does nothing.

Thanks but yes, I knew all that. There is a problem in my 'Applications list' in that there is no 'mailto' entry. As a result, when I click on >File>Send Link... nothing happens as >File>Send Link... simply references the 'mailto' entry in the Applications list (>Tools>Options>Applications tab
