In box list
The second line (under the sender) of my inbox items is sometimes highlighted blue (preferable) but not always. How do I set them all to blue? The all black entries are more difficult to read.

I am making a load of assumptions, because you description of the issue leaves a lot to be desired.
I assume you are using the card view where each mail is spread over many lines, instead of the one I use. In that view the second line is the message subject and will be blue when the message is both new and never displayed to you before, either in Thunderbird or on your phone or tablet if you are using an IMAP acount). Once that special status is lost the message no longer has the blue line.
So I am guessing I am saying you can't have it for all messages as only some meet the criteria do display them that way.
