import login data from a file

more options

From a Mozilla Support page, " Firefox lets you import login information from a .csv (##..##) file. This feature is available starting in Firefox Version 80." I have the .csv file for my logins and passwords thru the export function. I can not get the drop down menu where I can select the "import from a file..." per the instruction in the support example because I am running Version 79. Many attempts to update to the latest version stops at 79. My help page for version states that I have the latest update --v79. SO--- any suggestions as to were I can go to download version 80. I am trying to transfer my logins from laptop 1 to laptop 2 without going thru the laborious task of entering each login by hand.

Firefox 80 is due to released on 08-25-2020, why not wait until then?

Or install the Beta build now: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/channel/desktop/
But I don't recommend doing that, because then you would be on the Beta update schedule and get multiple Beta version updates per month. You would become a "Beta tester" then.

Don't count on .csv files that were exported from a different web browser to automatically be compatible with Firefox 80. This is a new feature for Firefox, while other brand browsers may have used that file format for awhile.

Although Firefox to Firefox in Fx80-plus versions won't be an issue.

And as always just manually copying the two logins data files from compatible Firefox installations to get that data transferred will work as it always has worked. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
