I am getting this message and can't get any new emails: Sending of username did not succeed. Mail server mail.bandsawnlumber.com responded: Dovecot readySTLS

When I click on OK I get the following message: Login to server mail[dot]bandsawnlumber.com with username [email address] failed. I enter my password and try again and get the first message again.

Not an expert but this sounds like authentication settings in Thunderbird are not matched to Dovecot requirements. TLS, SSL, StartTLS have to do with sending your password in a secure way. It might also have to do with security certificates. Can you ask your email tech support at bandsawnlumber what settings are needed? Have there been changes to the authentication settings at either the server or in Thunderbird? One other thing - have there been any changes to your firewall or virus checking software at the same time this started?
