I've been trying to search for answers for this for over a year on and off but never found anything.

Every so often, when using Firefox Android, huge portions of web pages are covered with black boxes. This happens on both my Samsung Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) and Galaxy Tab (SM-T520). It used to happen a lot more but every few weeks still does it. The only option is to use Chrome until Firefox starts displaying the pages properly again. Closing and re-opening Firefox doesn't seem to fix it, it just starts working again when it feels like it. I've included some screenshots to show how annoying it is.

When scrolling up and down an affected page, the boxes move around and cover different parts of the page but never go away completely.

As you can see from the screenshots, it happens on the this website too - so I don't think we can say it's a problem with the website's coding, as I'm sure that Mozilla is capable of creating a website compatible with it's own browser.

Hopefully someone can suggest a fix, I can't be the only one seeing this!

EDIT: The uploader on this website doesn't work! I'm using Firefox on Windows at the moment. Here are the screenshots mentioned in my post:

Hi

I recomend you clear the application cache for Firefox for Android and/or close down some of the apps that you are not using.

From the Android home screen:

  1. In the application drawer, open the settings application (cog wheel icon)
  2. Scroll down to Applications (or Apps)
  3. Find Firefox for Android and tap on it
  4. Select Clear Cache (not Clear Data!)

You should find that this clears the issue, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.
