The Thunderbird "reply" options are dynamic, and they change based on the incoming message. If the incoming message is from just one person, "reply" and "forward" are the only options you get.

If there were multiple recipients for the message that you got, you should see "reply" and "reply all" as options. If the message is from a list, you should see both "reply" and "reply to list" options.

But the options aren't static; they change based on the distribution list of the incoming message.

This is the behavior under Windows 10. For other OSs, YMMV.

The answer below has nothing to do with my problem. I have the buttons, and know how to reply.

After the update, when I "reply or reply all" there are NO ADDRESS's to reply to. It is now like a "forward", no address's are loaded to "reply to".

Sorry I misunderstood. I've never seen that specific problem, and I don't have any specific solution to suggest for it.

I downloaded TB from your site, and reinstalled. I did not remove 52. It reverted back to 45.40. It will update again, I hope it isn't the same as it was today.

I'm replying at this late date as a potential aid to future queries on this topic.

This applies to TB 52.5.0, but there's a good probability it'll work with most other modern versions as well.

In the panel that itemizes postings in your INBOX or any folder (usually at the top of the window), click an entry. Associated with the panel that displays the contents of that posting (usually beneath the first panel, above) there should be a header area listing "From," "Subject," and "To," usually on the left. On the right end of that header some or all of these buttons may be found: "Reply," "Forward," "Print," and "More." Right-click anywhere on that panel to get a "Customize..." option. Click it. You should get a "Customize Toolbar" box that you may have to move out of the way. (Click and hold the top margin while dragging it to the left, for instance.)

Drag any button from the panel header (e.g., "Reply") to that box to remove it from the panel header. Drag any icons from that box to the panel header to install the feature there.

Of particular interest should by one icon labelled, "Smart Reply." Drag it to the panel header. From now on you should see an option in the panel header for "Reply All" whenever more than one recipient is listed in "To:" on the left.

Note that if there is only one entry in the "To" area, the "Reply All" is replaced by simply "Reply." It should switch back and forth between those options depending on circumstances.

Hope this helps. Best of luck.

Stan
