Thunderbird & Word 2016 crashing when I try to paste from word to email

I suddenly cannot copy from word, or even word preview in file explorer, and paste into thunderbird e-mail. When I attempt it both programs freeze. I generally get an error message with Thunderbird at the same time that a script stop working. Whether i click stop script or continue seems to make no difference.

I have seen other people complaining of similar issues but being fixed by updating Malaware Bytes to the latest version but my Malaware Bytes is updated to the latest version and it's not working. I even tried excluding the folder containing the documents I'm trying to copy and paste from in Malware Bytes but it did nothing.

I was not having this problem until the latest Windows update.

Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Wrt Word freezing, you'd need to ask in a Microsoft forum.
