What in the hell is wrong with Firefox's security detection?
I'm getting messages from websites that I've visited forever - Mozilla, LibreOffice, Microsoft, IBM, you name it - that tell me "Your Connection Is Not Secure". This is happening on Windows 7, Ubuntu 17.04, and my Mac.
What has changed within Firefox to cause this? I'm to the point now where I'm starting to use Chrome, only because it doesn't give me all the messages and all the grief that Firefox is giving.

When did this start?
Firefox 51+ will mark HTTP connections with a padlock with a strike through and shows "Connection is Not Secure" if you click the Control Center 'i' button at the left end of the location/address bar.
Note that this message is meant as a warning that you could be vulnerable and that it won't prevent (block) you from accessing the website.

If necessary then press the ESC key to close a doorhanger with a warning message.

This has been happening for a couple of weeks now. The Firefox version on my Mac is "53.0.2 (64-bit)", which I believe is the current level. The other PC's are all updated to current as well.
I thought it might be related to new antivirus installs, but that was on the Windows boxes - the Mac didn't have it installed. Neither does my Ubuntu box.
My wife has had the message pop up when she's trying to access bank sites that have previously worked without issue. Switching to a different browser, she has no problems.
I can't put a finger on any one thing as a possible smoking gun. And I don't know how to log Firefox's activity and who I might send it to if I DID log it.
I figure I'll just wait it out until the next update cycle.
Can you confirm whether this is about accessing open HTTP connections specifically?
If this is happening with an HTTP connection or possibly with an HTTPS connections that has mixed content or otherwise isn't secure then this is expected behavior in current Firefox releases.
Any specific error messages in "Tools -> Page Info -> Security" or in the Web Console?
Did you read the SUMO knowledge base articles I posted above and the other articles?
Cor-el, It looks like my reply to tomatoshadow2 was posted very shortly after your response to me. I didn't see your post while I was composing, hence the disconnect.
I will take a look at everything you sent and see what I can learn from it.
Thank you for your response!
If you have the full page error message on HTTPS addresses, please see this article for next steps in your investigation: What do the security warning codes mean?
