Bing dislays images results in one column only.

This is only happening with Firefox, not Chrome or IE. Bing is the only search engine i use so this is a problem. I try to look up images using Bing and the results only show in one VERY long column. The rest of the screen is blank where there should be more results. I've tried using Firefox in safe mode, clearing cache and cookies, and disabling my minifox add-on, but nothing has worked. Like i said before this doesn't happen in Chrome or IE. I'll include a screenshot if i can.

You can attach a screen shot by replying to your post.

Are you using a secure connection (HTTPS URL) or a regular connection (HTTP URL) when using Bing, and if you switch by editing the address bar, does it make any difference?

More generally:

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

You can open the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer). Check on the Network tab if any content is blocked and has a file size 0 (zero).

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

I had cleared the cache before but i did it again and now its working. Why does Firefox have such a problem with cache and cookies, i never had to clear them as much with Chrome or IE as i do with Firefox. I don't know much about Firefox, is it a relatively new browser?

Firefox is 10 years old now, but of course many things have changed over the years.

Firefox sometimes is too tenacious with cached files, retaining older versions when websites have updated a file (such as the style sheet that has the instructions to lay out the images in rows). That could be what happened in this case.

You can also try to reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files in cases like this.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
