Hello,

I usually print web pages with a very small font (using the print preview function with a zoom of around 40%). The problem is that the relatively small letters which were printed don't look very smooth or of high quality. They look rathr poor.

However, I have a post-script laster printer (Lexmark E450 DN), and if I print PDF-files with Adobe Acrobat with a very small font the letters look very nice and smooth.

If I wouldn't know it better it would seem to me that the file which firefox sends to the printer is not a postscript file, because if it would be a proper postscript file then my printer would print the file with the best quality.

Can anyone help me?

I look forward to your answers, Vilietha

Some additional informations: I printed some pages with small font-size (40% in firefox print preview) into a pdf-file ("print to file"), and then I opened it with the Adobe-Acrobat-Reader, and the file seems to be a proper Pdf-file. When I print it with the Acrobat-Reader, the qualitiy is nice.

However, if I print the web-page directly with my printer from firefox, the quality is not good. The printed page looks like it was send to the printer as a low-resolution raster-image.

But both times I printed directly from Firefox..., and Firefox seems to be the only program which has this problem. I remember that when I used Firefox 3 or so, the problem was not there. The problem is only here since Firefox 8 or so it seems to me. Updates to Firefox 9, 10 etc have not solved the problem.

If someone wishes I can also upload some photos of the printed pages.

It might be a good idea to get in contact with a developer who is working on the printing facility of firefox. Do you agree, and how can I get in contact with one of them?

I look forward to your answers, Vilietha

I am alone here, or is there someone else out there? I will be glad about any life sign.
