In earlier versions there was a graphic indication that I was on a secure page. Other than looking at the URL, is there a way to get this indicator showing again on version 5.0.1? It was a handy way to confirm the SSL status of a page.

Padlock is no longer part of Firefox. Familiarize yourself with the Site Identity Button at the left end of the Location Bar:

You can install this add-on if you wish: *https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/padlock-icon/

You have multiple old Java Console extensions in Add-ons > Extensions. You can remove them. Click on "More system info" to the right of your original question to see the GUID folders ({CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0012-ABCDEFFEDCBA}) to delete according to instructions in the following article.
