I would like to put my Thunderbird mail icon on my Firefox browser page. New (stupid) user who is really lost!

I just installed MOZILLA and then installed Thunderbird,for mail. I am leaving Windows IE (6?). I would like to install an icon on the FIREFOX browser home page but do not know how. Also,the mail application does not automatically retrieve my mail unless I click on FILE, GET A NEW MESSAGE FOR, and then click on my mail account. I am looking forward to using Firefox but obviously have some adjustments to make! Thanks in advance.

You can use the Get Mail add-on to add an icon for Thunderbird to the Firefox toolbar.

Thank you. I downloaded the application but have not opened it yet. I find this all too much but then again change is good. Again.Thank you for your advice.
