That's a good question. Normally Firefox displays a "door hanger" from the menu button. Here's one I screen captured a few months ago, which appears when you have asked Firefox to notify you instead of auto-updating:

You'll notice this box is positioned over the toolbar, which makes me think it can't be part of the page, but if you're not sure, just cancel it. You can update using menu > Help > About Firefox as described in this article:
