VPN works fine on all other sites. This site looks as if it is trying to load and then drops out.

I can get it without VPN but I get 'Not available in your country' hence use of VPN

With VPN I now get 'something went wrong, please try again' but still 'something wrong,

Some websites that have restricted content are able to check your actual location and how you access their server. If they suspect that you use a VPN or proxy due to the IP range (i.e. your IP does not belong to a known ISP) then they might block you because you violate their policy.

Browser is fine otherwise, could they have some form of VPN alert or something they do not use but the browser wants?

Maybe you were using a server that didn't support that website properly and now switched to a different server that works better.
