Suddenly and unexpectedly a web page will extreme zoom. This happens only occasionally but enough to be annoying. It happens while moving the cursor across the page but with no clicking of my mouse (Mac Magic). Once the zoom occurs I can't figure out how to reverse the situation. Only remedy is to quit the page. I spoke to Apple Support twice and they can't figure out why this is happening. They suggested that it must be a Firefox issue. I've looked through all the Firefox Preferences and tried different zoom settings but I don't see anything that explains this phenomenon. Below are before and after screen shots of the inadvertent zoom. Help please.

Thanks

Hi, thank you for the screenshots. I think the "pinch zoom"/magnification feature is somehow getting triggered. Could you test whether the pinch gestures you would use on a touch display work on the Magic Mouse? Those would be:

  • Pinch apart -- touch with two fingers together and slide them away from each other -- to magnify
  • Pinch together -- touch with two fingers further apart and slide them toward each other -- to return to normal

I'm not sure if there is a way to trigger that with only one finger; my Windows mouse is very boring...

First, your zoom controls.

<Control> (Mac=<Command>) + (plus) enlarge - (minus) reduce 0 (zero) restore

As to the problem, do you have a mouse pad on your system? Many pads are known to send a signal even when not being used, or touched.

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
