After I updated from 86 to 87 Firefox lost all my logins & passwords, and will no longer remember passwords after I enter them. "Ask to save logins and passwords for websites" and "Autofill logins and passwords" are both still checked.

It is possible that there is a problem with either or both logins.json and key4.db files in the Firefox profile folder that store the logins.

Firefox 80+ has a logins-backup.json file in the profile folder that can be used in case of issues with logins.json or to undo an accidental delete of a login, so you can check if you can find this file in the profile folder or in a backup.

You can check if you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case the Refresh feature in Firefox has been used and a new profile has been created and see if you can find logins.json and key4.db there.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

I don't know why FF no longer offers to remember logins. As to those you have lost, this article may help: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-user-data-missing-after-firefox-update On my OS the existing profile continues.
