Hi Yui-N, could you describe how far you are getting in the process?

  • You are able to access your old drive as a secondary (non-booting) hard drive, or you have a backup of the drive?
  • You copied folders from the old Firefox data folder to the new one, and Firefox ignores the pasted folders? You may need to update the Profiles.ini file to recognized the added folders (more suggestions on that when needed).

Note: Some versions of Quantum change how the data files are set up, so they are not backward compatible.

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder, so make sure to look in the correct location. Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:preferences).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files (Local Directory on about:preferences).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
