let me please set an individual background image. opera does offer this option. it just is an nice touch. disable it by default, but make it available for those who really want it.

as of right now, the new tab page and the default firefox startpage are to bright for my likings. i want to set either a background color of those two or even better let us set an own background image.

opera already offers this. we can set a own preferred background image on new opera startup page as well as new opera tabs.

please give us the opportunity to do the same

big kudos that you dont give up. i still give a fuck to chrome. always tried to workaround google and new updated firefox really gives hope. nontheless, i would stick to ff and opera anyway, but please give us that customization option.

thanks

Try using this extension to add a background image to the New Tab page. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/ I have been using the Legacy extension version for years now (on the pre- Firefox 57 versions). Have used a variety of images of aircraft and automobiles; and change the image every few months. Haven't yet tried it yet on Fx 57; I am going slow with customizing Quantum to suit my usage needs.

As far as for the Home Page try this one: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/homepage/

I rarely use the default homepage so I can't comment on that extension. I have tinkered with using userChrome.css to change the color of the background of the homepage and the New Tab page. With the limitations that Mozilla has saddled Quantum with, I suspect that userChrome mods will become a very popular method of customizing Firefox Quantum. https://www.userchrome.org/

If you are interested in that approach "we" can provide more information as to the code you would need.

Thanks so much for this. The new tab thing was really starting to give me headaches with how blinding it was. Now if there was a similar add-on for the bookmark sidebar, every thing would be fine and dandy.
