On Mac OS, can I use two computers to access one TBird account, one as POP and the other as IMAP?

During the day I want to use TBird on MBP #1 as IMAP to sort and read email, but each night I want to use TBird on MBP #2 as POP to pull down the mail permanently. So there would be 2 Macs -- the first as IMAP and the other as POP. Will it work? Thanks.

What does "sort" mean to you? If you are talking about filing messages into folders then this won't work; POP can see only the Inbox.

I'd use IMAP on both computers, but on the mbp#2 machine I'd move the messages I want to keep into the Local Folders account. This has the useful side effect of removing them from the server.

But why not leave them on the server? If you remove messages, you can bet that very soon you'll want to see a message on mbp#1 that you filed on mbp#2 the previous day. ;-)

Storing messages on one specific computer means that computer becomes the definitive store of all your old messages. Do you have a reliable backup regime?
