I am a longtime Thunderbird user. Over the last week or so I have been receiving a Send Message Error about 70% of the time I try to send emails. Screenshot of the error attached. I have found a workaround that works some of the time (I send a test email to the account that I am not able to send from. I send it from a different email, it goes through, then I can send from the problem account 50% of the time after that) but obviously this is very inefficient and doesn't work 100% of the time.

Not sure why this started happening all of a sudden? Something to do with 45.6.0? Do I need to change server settings? There were working fine in the past?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much.

You need to change the SMTP server settings to what Google says they should be here: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7126229?hl=en

You have the SMTP server as "smtp.googlemail.com" when it should be "smtp.gmail.com". Also check the port number set in Thunderbird.

Thunderbird menu: Tools: Account Settings: Select "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" on the left side, then select the server you want on the right side. Click the "Edit" button to change the settings.

While you are at it, make sure that the incoming (IMAP or POP), server settings are correct in Thunderbird: Account Settings: Server Settings for the account.

You may also need to set up an App password for Thunderbird, since Gmail wants people to use them these days: Google: 2-Step Verification info Sign in using App Passwords App passwords

If there is still a problem after all this, then there is the possibility that your antivirus program may be interfering with e-mail communications.

To test that, you should disable the antivirus program entirely for a test. If you were using Windows, I would also recommend rebooting in Safe Mode to test this. Since you are a Mac user, I can't tell you that! I'm a Windows computer tech, not Mac.
