Yesterday I had all the available quality options for YouTube videos. I could watch things in HD and everything. But today for some reason I can't and I can only watch things in 144p.

I don't use HTML5 since FireFox doesn't support that so I've been using the YouTube Flash Player add on. It's been working great up to this point. I even added the 1.4.0 version and at first that seems to have fixed things. I got all of the options again. But then when I try to watch a video in a new tap those options were gone. I even just added the YouTube High Definition add on hoping that would help but nothing.

I don't know what to do. Nothing seems to be working and if they did work it was only temporary. I don't know what other options there are or if it'll even work. Can anything be done?

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Firefox supports HTML5 as it can be the default on Youtube depending on OS. https://www.youtube.com/html5

cor-el and James thank you both for the suggestions. But it looks like things are back to normal. All of the quality options are back on the videos. I've disabled the other two YouTube add on I gotten and kept the one that I have been using back on. I have no idea what was going on last night but it seems that everything is back to normal. I hope it continues to be that way tomorrow and so on as well.

And James you're right, poor word choice on my end. I can use HTML5 but I can only watch videos on 360 with that. (Had to switch to that last night so I could watch video on some decent quality.) But things seem to be good on Flash now. Sometimes I think I should wait a day or two before posting on here about problems ^^; I just tend to panic a bit and want a solution right away.

Thank you both.
