If I select one message to write , the dialog gives me option to write text only. But if I select more than one message and write to external location, always in format eml. When you select Save As in menu, with one file, you get file and template. But if multiple files, only file is active and can only write eml data files.

Any add-on(s) or protperty that I can set to get it to write as text for multiple files?

Thanks...

ImportExportTools (How to install)

Right-click a selection of messages, 'Save selected messages...' and choose 'Plain text format'. If you right-click on a folder, you can also save all the messages in one text file.

If you select multiple messages, you have no option on 'save as' to say you want plain text messages. If I select one message, then as part of the save dialog that comes up, one can select plain text. Also no where do I see a way to save as one message vs multiple messages. also on the right click after selection there is nothing like "save select messages"...

I am running the latest OSX and per ThunderBird, the latest version.

I even tried right click on folder, search, enter search criteria, get the hits, but right click does not work and only can work with one message at a time. I can delete all or maybe even open all, but again not what I cam after.

Thoughts???

Did you install the add-on mentioned in my reply? If so, you should see a right-click menu as shown in the picture.

I missed the install portion. So have done the install, but still have not see what I should use to get one file verses in my case 114 files. I picked the plain text without attachments and got 114 files. What do I use to get only one file which you I,plied in your original reply...

Copy the 114 messages to a folder, e.g. one created under Local Folders, then right-click the folder, ImportExportTools/Export all messages in the folder/as single text file. Or, access the menu from Tools on the Menu Bar or the AppMenu (hamburger icon).

In reality, the convert to csv generated what I wanted. Your path of a lot of extra work is not a solution. You should be able to T the point of generation set either individual files or summary. If y ou can create multiple files, e one should easily be able to write only one file.

Thanks for help..

You may considered this closed, NOT SOLVED, just closed. Solved is a simple straightforward part of the original right click...

You should consider asking the author of the add-on to offer the choice, single or multiple text files, in the menu for a selection of multiple files.
