I have the wm player plugin in my "option-add on's" and I can see it in my browser folder and plugin folder but when I go into "option-applications" area it only lets me see wm player not the plugin like it can for quicktime plugin... when I do a browse in that folder for "other" "select helper application" there is nothing in the folder so I cant select wm plugin at all anywhere....?

If you are trying to substitute the Windows Media Player plugin for the QuickTime plugin, and that doesn't show as an option for a particular content type in Options > Applications, it might be a content types that WMP doesn't handle.

To see the content-types handled by a plugin, you can find its list on the following page: type or paste about:plugins in the address bar and press Enter. If you check the list for Windows Media player, does it mention the kind of content you want to play?

If your Firefox doesn't see the Windows Media Player plugin, could you double-check that you took the extra steps outlined in the support article: Play Windows Media files in Firefox with the Windows Media plugin.

Hmm, for me it appears at the bottom of the about:plugins page. I am attaching a screen shot for reference. I can't think of any reason for it to be missing since it seems to show up on your plugin list next to your original question: Question Details > More System Details (as "np-mswmp").

Upon reviewing that list, neither MPEG nor AAC media are listed, so most likely Microsoft does not support playing through through the plugin, even if they could play externally in Windows Media Player.
