When I open firefox it restores my previous tabs, which I want. It also opens, every single time, windows with tabs that I've visited but closed in previous sessions. I don't want these windows restored, only the windows and tabs that were open during my last session. In particular, they are pinterest tabs that I have visited, but don't want to see every time I open my browser. Does anyone have any advice? I don't really want to disable "restore previous session" because I also have a lot of tabs that I don't want to lose.

Hi casseuc, I believe there is a time interval each time the session is saved. In order to change your Firefox Configuration please do the following steps :

  1. In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter. The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.
  2. Click I'll be careful, I promise! to continue to the about:config page.
  3. Search for browser.sessionstore.interval and increase or decrease the time.

There is also max entries, but that would only be recommended if you have a specific number of sessions.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder that stores session data. Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
