After I refreshed , when I go to the pull down to visit a previous site, it loads in the address bar, but will not go to the site.

Everything was fine until I refreshed Firefox. Since then, the address bar isn't functioning. If I type in a web-site, or try to use the pull down menu to go to a previous site, the site loads but the "enter function or Go arrow" doesn't work. It used to load automatically, now it doesn't load at all! I am running Windows XP

You are running Firefox in compatibility mode for Windows 98 (NT 4.10) according to the user agent.

  • Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 4.10; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode. You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab. Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Thanks for your response! I tried starting in Safe Mode and the problem was still there. I then took your advice and uninstalled Adobe Flash Player and then reinstalled the latest Adobe players that you had listed but the problem still exists I have also tried uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling.

I would like to thank FredMcD for trying to help, and I would like to report that the issue was resolved by the solution from cor-el. It was a compatibility mode issue. Once I deselected the box in the compatibility tab and re-started the computer, the issue was resolved. Thanks again to all that assisted me in resolving this issue.
