Updated to 30.0 and all the open tabs are gone. The option to restore previous session is grayed out. I found an article that referred to sessionstore.js. The only copies of this file are from May, so they cant be of any use.

If you use the Time Machine then you can see if there are copies of the sessionstore.js file available.

Is it possible you have been restoring the same session for two months, or should there really be more recent files?

Could you check for a special backup made during the upgrade process?

Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information

In the first table on the page, click the "Show in Finder" button (on Windows: Show Folder)

If you scroll down to where the sessionstore files are, can you find one with a name similar to:

sessionstore.bak-datetime

If that has a more recent date, we can try to restore it. But rather than deluge you with more steps, let me know what you find, and please make copies of all the sessionstore files in a safe place (outside of Firefox's folders) in case we need to repeat the experiment a few times to get it right.
