I can not get Bookmarks to not delete

I'm now unable to delete any bookmarks, either on the tool bar to bookmark drop downs. I right click and click on delete and it doesn't do anything..HELP !!!!!!

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
