Even when I go to about:config and change the default settings, the next time I open my browser firefox still makes yahoo my default search engine. It always tells me that settings have been restored to default as well.

On the "about:config" page you need to change this line "keyword.URL" to (if google) "http://www.google.com/search?&q=".

I did that, but yahoo continues to be the default search engine when I select something to search in a page and select with a clic on the right side of my mouse.

I had this same problem and I think I fixed it. Instead of modifying both the keyword.url just right click and select reset. Make sure you do the same thing for keyword.enabled

My keyword.enabled was set to false, but when I reset it, it set to true and now I don't seem to be having any problems with the search remaining enabled.
