Go to about:config and try changing accessibility.blockautorefresh to true.

No, that won't help and, if you changed that preference, you should change it back to the default. You may be able to find a user script which blocks auto-refresh. To install and use it you will have to install the Greasemonkey extension or one of the other monkeys.

If the above about:config setting works, you can target Facebook specifically by adding the following line to uBlock Origin's "My filters" section:
