Changed my password in the saved passwords folder, now I get a server error message. 'Sending of password did not succeed'. Got the information from the support page to change my email password and did so for both in and send boxes. Since then, I have not been able to download emails.

The password is required to access your account on the server. Thunderbird doesn't have any passwords, it only remembers the account password for you, so that you won't have to type it again and again.

Therefore to change your account password, you'll have to log in to your account via web browser, and change the password on the server.

Thank you very much for your prompt, and accurate information. It took some doing, but I was eventually able to reset my password.

I've logged in to the mail server via web browser, and am still getting an error message from Thunderbird. I've deleted the account, added it as a new account. The settings are correct, the same as a different account that uses the same server/isp.

I am able to access the account without any issues via web browser.

Thank you.
