Today when I launched firefox, Avast popped up saying that one of my add-ons, GlobalFindbar, has a bad reputation and that I should remove it.

Is GlobalFindbar actually bad? (malware, spyware etc) What I'm mainly concerned about is that in the past, there have been good add-ons that got bought up by bad companies who changed the add-ons to be bad, and I wonder if that happened with this one??

hello, i don't think that this is the case - the addon's page at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/globalfindbar/ still looks pretty inconspicuous. you'd probably have to contact avast to find out on what information they are basing their claims about the extension.
